History of the department of neurosurgery: In 1989, on the initiative of the head of the Department of Traumatology, Orthopedics, Military Field Surgery and Neurosurgery, Professor Khamraev Shahob Shamsiev, a department of neurosurgery with 35 beds was opened at the Tashkent State Medical Institute No. 2. In the department of neurosurgery in 1989-1992, as the head of the department worked neurotraumatologist Anatoly Efimovich Kim, in 1992-2000 - Doctor of Medical Sciences Makhkamov Kozim Ergashevich, in 2000-2017 - Ph.D. Umarov Alisher Kurbanovich, from 2017 to the present time the head of the department has been a neurosurgeon of the highest category Ernazarov Ortikboy Goyibnazarovich.

Position of the department: The department of neurosurgery is located on the 1st floor of building No. 1, designed for 35 beds and consists of 11 wards, 1 clean dressing room, 1 treatment room and additional rooms.

The branch operates 24/7.

The staff of the department is 9.0 doctors, 12.0 nurses and 13.0 paramedics.

The department is entrusted with conducting examinations and neurosurgical operations of patients who came to the hospital urgently during the day, as well as those who have come to the hospital as planned, and provide advice to patients from other departments of the hospital.

It is also planned to provide assistance in the direction of a doctor for neurosurgical operations at the request of the service.

The employees of the department in the process of service obey the order of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated 04.19.1994 No. 173 "On the organization of medical care for surgical patients and sanitary and hygienic measures aimed at preventing nosocomial infections in surgical hospitals."

  1. Ernazarov Ortikboy Goyibnazarovich - head of the department, neurosurgeon of the highest category, has been working from 2003 to the present.
  2. Umarov Alisher Kurbonovich - neurosurgeon of the highest category, PhD, has been working since 1991 to the present.
  3. Sharipov Abdurashid Abdumazhidovich - neurosurgeon of the highest category, has been working since 1992 to the present.
  4. Aripov Avaz Ubaevich - neurosurgeon of the highest category, has been working since 1999 to the present.
  5. Makhkamov Shavkat Zhumabaevich - neurosurgeon of the highest category, has been working since 1996 to the present.
  6. Jalolov Laziz Mirazizovich - neurosurgeon of the highest category, has been working since 1998 to the present.
  7. Mirakhmedov Khislat Mirakhmedovich - neurosurgeon of the highest category, has been working from 2002 to the present.

During the year, the Department of Neurosurgery applies courses of surgical treatment to patients with more than 300 tumors of the brain and spinal cord, more than 60 neuralgias of the trigeminal nerve, more than 60 degenerative diseases of the spine (herniated discs, spinal stenosis, spondylolisthesis), more than 30 Arnold malformations - Chiari malformation, more than 50 head and spine injuries, more than 20 hydrocephalus.

More than 6,000 patients receive emergency and planned neurosurgical consultations.

In the department, inpatient courses of treatment are given to patients with the following diagnoses:

- Traumatic brain injury (concussion, brain contusion, cerebral hematoma, pneumocephalus, removal of depressed broken bones of the skull)

- Hemorrhagic stroke

- Release of chronic subdural hematomas.

- Injuries of the spine and spinal cord

- Brain tumors

- Spinal cord tumors

- Open and closed hydrocephalus

- Arnold-Chiari malformation

- Degenerative diseases of the spine (disc herniation, spinal stenosis, spondylolisthesis)

- Trigeminal neuralgia

- Hemifasial spasm

- Facial nerve plasty
